Worship Services

Christ Church offers multiple opportunities
and styles of worship.

All are welcome to worship at Christ Church -
come as you are!

Saturday evenings: Join us for an informal worship experience that includes piano music, personal intercessory prayer requests, and music led by a folk choir every Saturday evening at 6 pm in the Sanctuary (mid September through mid June) and in our beautiful worship garden during the summer months (late June through early September). During the summer months worship music is provided by a wonderful assortment of guest musicians. This service closes with communion. Nursery care is available during this service.

Communion also takes place on Sunday mornings at 9 am in the Peelor Chapel, located off of Highland Road near the circle driveway.

9:30 and 11:00 Sunday Mornings:
Traditional Worship ~ Contemporary Ideas

The traditional services at Christ Church are majestic and powerful experiences of praise, prayer, scripture, and song. Worship is led by the exceptional Christ Church choirs. The congregation sings hymns both timeless and contemporary from The United Methodist Hymnal and from our supplement Renew! Singing is accompanied by one of the finest pipe organs in Western Pennsylvania. On occasion piano, percussion, string, and wind instruments are heard in worship. The handbells play the prelude music several times each year.  Prayers and liturgy are in contemporary language. The preaching relates the message of the scriptures to daily life, and challenges us as 21st-century people of faith. The 9:30 and 11:00 services are places where we experience the Holy—mysterious, miraculous, immediate, and relevant— in a sacred space for worship.

The 9:30 service is led by the Chapel Choir. They are an 85-voice choir of 7th through 12th-graders who perform a wide variety of sacred music with a fresh energy and an enthusiastic spirit. Frequently, special music is provided by solo singers, ensembles, and instrumentalists drawn from our talented group of young musicians.

The 11:00 service is led by the 80-voice adult Chancel Choir. They sing the very best of sacred music in a variety of styles—including classical choral repertoire, spirituals, gospel, early American, and compositions by contemporary composers. The four Christ Church children’s choirs frequently sing at this service. The Wesley Singers Men’s Choir also sings every few weeks.

11:01 and 6 pm Sunday Contemporary Worship

11:01  (A.M. Sunday): This service is designed as a family-friendly, casual and contemporary experience led by Chris Morgan and held in the Christian Life Center (gym) at 11:01 on Sunday mornings. Enjoy contemporary Christian music from our Praise Band, come as you are (casual dress) and give the kids the option of joining you in worship or attending the always fun "Kids Connect" Sunday School program. The nursery is available, too. For details about the 11:01 service, check out www.cumc1101.com.

Sunday nights: For a truly unique contemporary worship experience, come to our 6 pm "Sunday Night" worship service in the Sanctuary. Led by our Sunday Night praise and worship band, this service features contemporary Christian rock music & drama  performances as well as the use of visual media.  This service includes Communion. Childcare is available for infants and toddlers. Click here for details about the 6 pm Sunday Night service.
