The Mission of the Health
Ministries of Christ United Methodist Church is to educate and
serve the faith community throughout the continuum of life,
meeting the needs of the body, mind and spirit.

following the teachings of Jesus Christ.
Parish Nurse Services
Parish
nursing is a specialty practice and professional model of
health ministry. The practice holds that all persons are
sacred and must be treated with respect and dignity. The
parish nurse assists and supports individuals, families and
communities in becoming more active partners in the
stewardship of personal and communal health services.
Role of
the Parish Nurse
Health Counselor- discusses health
problems and makes home, hospital and nursing home visits as
needed. Integrates faith traditions.
Referral Source-
Acts as liaison to community
resources and services.
Health Educator-
Promotes an understanding of
the relationship among lifestyle, attitudes, faith and well
being.
Coordinator- Coordinates volunteers
to serve in a variety of ways to help meet the needs of the
members.
Health
Cabinet
A team of
health and human service professionals and others working
collaboratively with the parish nurse to assess and meet the
needs of the congregation from a wholistic perspective.
Lay
Pastors
Lay people
who have gone through special training and who visit shut-ins
and those who are hospitalized to provide spiritual care and
fellowship.
Membership Care Committee
Lay people
who provide assistance to the needs of members of the
congregation, such as food preparation for emergency
situations, parking assistance and the tape ministry.
