Only a
nurtured and cared-for church will be strong enough to
continue making new disciples. God provides the gifts to make
this ministry possible; we provide the caring individuals to
do the ministry.
Lay Pastors
If a church
is to be all God calls it to be, it must respond to the needs
of its people. If lay people care like pastors, visit like
pastors, and have pastoring gifts like pastors, they are
pastors. The lay pastors are key to Christ Church’s caring
ministries.
The
ordained pastors provide the overall care of members,
including crisis and special needs care. They nurture,
mobilize, and equip the laity to provide the grassroots,
on-going care of the church community.
Lay pastors
visit those hospitalized or homebound. They provide love and
care and a listening ear to individuals in need. Lay pastors
give personal attention, support and guidance in Christ’s
name.
The church equips and enables
those with the passion and commitment for this ministry.
Hospitality Ministries
Churches
must be extroverted, for we are ambassadors for Christ. To
help set our thermostat on “friendly,” we have several
important groups:
-
Our parking lot volunteers help
direct cars into open spaces in the lot and provide that first
welcome greeting.
-
Greeters are at the doors of the
Sanctuary before each worship service to extend a hand of
friendship and a warm, welcoming presence.
-
Ushers at all services provide
worship guides and help to make people comfortable by locating
seats.
-
The Welcome Center, both Sunday
Morning in the lobby and Sunday Night at the back of the
sanctuary, provides information and printed materials.
Other Care-Giving Ministries
The following are other programs
that help us meet the needs congregation.
-
Casserole Team –
Here’s a way to make a difference from the comfort of your own
kitchen or car. We need cooks to provide meals and
drivers to deliver them for members in need after illness or
injury.
-
Minor
Home Repair Team – Retired
men donate time and expertise for the elderly who are unable
to make minor repairs themselves.
-
Audio
DVD Team – DVDs of sermons
and worship services are made for the homebound, for those who
have to miss worship, and for members who would like to share
a message with a friend.
